Lead Paragraph

The lead paragraph or summary text is intended as an introduction, preceding a longer body of text.

Use it to give the reader an idea of what the succeeding text is about. The shorter the better; ideally visitors will get an idea of the content of your page at a glance (rather than having to pick through long sentences with long words. The first paragraph under the page title on this page is in lead paragraph style.

  • Keep it to three to six lines long
  • Only use one lead paragraph per page, right after the Page title (H1)
